The Finance Calendar widget is a free, embeddable economic calendar for any website: one div, one script tag, and your page shows the coming releases with their times in the visitor’s own timezone, impact dots, consensus, prior and actual. It is free, including on commercial sites, as long as the Finance Calendar link in the widget stays visible.
The widget is a 5 KB script served from the Finance Calendar API. It calls the API from the visitor’s browser, so there is nothing to install on your server and nothing to cache. It works on WordPress, Squarespace, Webflow, Ghost, static sites and any page where you can paste HTML.
The snippet
<div data-fc-widget data-country="US,GB" data-impact="high" data-days="7"></div>
<script src="https://www.financecalendar.com/wp-json/fc/v1/widget" async></script>
That is the whole thing. The div is replaced with a calendar of high-impact US and UK releases for the next 7 days. Remove data-country for every country, or data-impact for every release.

Examples
Central bank decisions only, 60 days, headed “Rate decisions”:
<div data-fc-widget data-category="central-banks-monetary-policy" data-days="60" data-title="Rate decisions"></div>
<script src="https://www.financecalendar.com/wp-json/fc/v1/widget" async></script>
Just the Fed, US CPI and the jobs report, in New York time whatever the visitor’s zone:
<div data-fc-widget data-series="fomc,us-cpi,us-nfp" data-days="92" data-tz="America/New_York"></div>
<script src="https://www.financecalendar.com/wp-json/fc/v1/widget" async></script>
UK data for a UK audience, 14 days:
<div data-fc-widget data-country="GB" data-days="14" data-title="UK economic data"></div>
<script src="https://www.financecalendar.com/wp-json/fc/v1/widget" async></script>
Several widgets on one page work; include the script tag once. If you add a widget div after the page has loaded (in a single-page app, for example), call FinanceCalendarWidget.init() to render it.
What it shows
- A header with your title and a link to financecalendar.com.
- A row per release grouped by day: the time in the chosen zone (or “All day” for holidays), an impact dot (red for high, orange for medium, grey for low), the release name linked to its page on this site, and the country code.
- On the right, “Actual” once the figure is out, otherwise “Cons.” for the consensus, plus “Prior”.
- A footer naming the timezone and crediting Finance Calendar.
The data refreshes each time the page loads; the API behind it is updated within the hour of a release and cached for 5 minutes.
Styling
The widget injects a small stylesheet with classes prefixed fcw- (fcw-h for the header, fcw-d for a day heading, fcw-r for a row, fcw-high, fcw-medium and fcw-low for the dots). Override them in your own CSS after the script loads. The default is a white card with a dark blue header, a system font at 14px, and rounded corners; it is responsive and has no fixed width, so put it in any column.
Terms
The widget is free on any site, commercial sites included. The one condition is that the Finance Calendar link in the header or footer of the widget stays visible; do not hide it with CSS or remove it. If you want a calendar without the link, use the API directly under the Pro tier, or build your own view with the API and give attribution on your page instead.
Frequently asked questions
Does the widget need an API key?
No. It calls the API without a key, and the limit is per visitor IP address, so a busy site is not throttled by its own traffic.
Does it slow my page down?
The script is about 5 KB, loads with async, and makes one API request after the page has rendered. It does not block anything.
Does it set cookies or track visitors?
No. It makes a plain GET request to the API and renders the result. Links out carry utm_source=widget so we can see that a visit came from a widget, nothing more.
Can I show times in the visitor’s zone?
That is the default. Set data-tz only if you want a fixed zone, for example New York time on a US trading blog.
Can I embed it in WordPress?
Yes. Paste the snippet into a Custom HTML block. It works with any theme.
Attribution
Data from this API is free for any use, commercial included, on one condition: a visible link to https://www.financecalendar.com near where the data appears, or on your credits page. In the widget that link is built in. Earnings dates are not included.
