FOMC Dates API: Fed Meeting Dates as JSON and ICS

The FOMC dates API returns the next Federal Reserve rate decision, every scheduled meeting ahead, and every past decision since 2020 as JSON, with the announcement time in UTC and Eastern Time, the consensus and the outcome. The same data is available as an ICS feed you can subscribe to.

The Fed’s rate decision is series code fomc in the Finance Calendar API. Aliases fed, fed-decision, fed-funds and fomc-decision all resolve to it. Related series are fomc-minutes, beige-book and fed-testimony. The human-readable schedule is on the FOMC meetings hub.

Every meeting ahead, and the history

/series/fomc returns the series metadata, the next and last decisions, up to 60 upcoming meetings, the recent history, and a verified dataset of every decision since January 2020 taken from the Fed’s own record of open market operations.

Note the December row: 14:00 Eastern is 19:00 UTC after the clocks change, and the API gives you the right UTC instant for each meeting. Meetings with a Summary of Economic Projections (the “dot plot”) carry that in note.

Only the meetings, as a feed

Subscribe to Fed decisions in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar with an ICS URL. Each event is 30 minutes long, starts at the statement time, and carries the consensus, prior and actual in its description.

https://www.financecalendar.com/wp-json/fc/v1/calendar?series=fomc&to=2027-01-19&format=ics

Add fomc-minutes to the series list for the minutes 3 weeks after each meeting, or use category=central-banks-monetary-policy for every central bank. The /calendar window is 92 days; the FOMC hub serves a longer feed with ?fc_ics=1.

Past decisions with outcomes

curl "https://www.financecalendar.com/wp-json/fc/v1/history?series=fomc&limit=8"

This returns the last 8 decisions newest first, each with consensus, prior and actual as they stood on the day. The September 2026 row, for example, carries "actual": "Raised 25bp to 3.75%-4.00% (first hike in three years)" and "note": "Summary of Economic Projections". Frequently asked questions

What time is the FOMC decision released?

14:00 Eastern Time on the second day of the meeting, which is 18:00 UTC in summer and 19:00 UTC in winter. The press conference follows at 14:30 Eastern. Use time_utc rather than adding an offset yourself.

How many FOMC meetings are there a year?

8 scheduled meetings. The API also records unscheduled decisions in the long-run dataset, marked in the note field.

Yes. Add tz=Europe/London to /next, /series/fomc or /calendar and every row gains a time_local field.

Where does the date come from?

The Federal Reserve’s published meeting calendar, linked in source_url on every row. Dates are re-checked every hour.
